NExT Exam is scheduled to be conducted in August 2025. The NExT 2025 test will be taken in online mode. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) released all the crucial dates for the NExT 2025 exam. The exams like NEET PG and FMGE exams for medical students are replaced with the NExT Exam MBBS. As soon as the NExT Exam begins in India, it will be the sole Pass Gate for people to obtain a medical license and practice medicine in India.

According to the NExT 2025 exam pattern, the Step 1 of NExT exam will contain 540 multiple choice questions. Step 2 of the NExT exam will be a practically demonstrating round. The NExT PG will take place twice a year (May and then November). path.

What is NExT Exam?

NExT exam, i.e. National Exit Test, will be held to provide access to postgraduate courses. This is a licentiate exam required of all undergraduate medical students practising in India.

Those who have passed in India or abroad shall have to clear the exam to register with the Medical Council of India. AIIMS Delhi will conduct the National Exit Test. Previously, it was assumed that it would be the National Medical Commission which would conduct. But the latest official release has validated that AIIMS will conduct the exam twice in a year.

NExT Exam Eligibility criteria

The NExT will be valid for UG medical students. Some of the NExT exam eligibility criteria are as follows:

NExT Exam Application form 2025

Even as both the exam conducting bodies have not released any official notifications to the public on the application process, it is believed that NMC will issue an online application form for the NExT exam India. Dates of application for NExT 2025 will be posted online at the official site.

Most likely NExT 2025 registration will start in the last week of March 2025. Applicants will be required to make an online registration to present the application form for NExT 2025.

The application process includes; registration, filling the application form, uploading images, and paying for registration fee. It is recommended that applicants go through eligibility criteria before applying for NExt PG exam.

NExT Exam Pattern 2025

The exam contains two parts, NExT 1 and NExT 2.
NExT 1, which is theory-based will be conducted online.
In NExT 1, a total of 540 MCQ-based questions will be based on 19 subjects.
NExT 2 will not be carried out before the internship. NExT 2 or paper two will be a practical exam conducted by the respective state colleges/universities. A score obtained from Paper 1 will be valid for two years to qualify for the Paper 2 practical exam.

NExT cut-off marks 2025

Candidates applying for NExT PG courses need to score the minimum cut off marks to be allowed to take the NExT PG exam. Qualifying criteria are varied between the NExT 1 and 2.

For NExT 1, the pass marks to be set shall be 50% or half of maximum possible raw of NExT Step 1 - Criteria for passing NExT Step 2 will be satisfactory performance in demonstration of competencies that will be used for evaluation and declared as a Pass /Fail result.
